Sylvie Pilotte has lived in northern New Brunswick for the past several years. During that time, she embarked on a professional career as a visual artist, embracing a constantly evolving approach. Drawing on her bachelor's degree in education and her graphic design studies in her home province of Quebec, she uses the collage technique to incorporate signifiers and symbolic elements into works that primarily deal with social issues. Sylvie's inaugural solo exhibition, entitled Déraisonance, toured New Brunswick from 2018 to 2021 and received support from the Canada Council for the Arts and the New Brunswick Arts Council on multiple occasions. At the same time, she also came up with various new projects aimed at expanding the scope of her practice. One such project took shape in the summer of 2019 and involved the creation of hybrid, installation-oriented sculptural works. Seeking to contribute to the advancement of her practice and her discipline, Sylvie joined the Association acadienne des artistes professionnel.le.s du Nouveau-Brunswick (AAAPNB) and began supporting visual arts organizations such as the Canadian Artists' Representation/Le Front des artistes canadiens (CARFAC Maritimes) and the Centre d'artistes Constellation bleu.
